WhatsApp introduced an ‘HD’ option for users when sending photos or videos. Not long ago, Mark Zuckerberg revealed that the app was introducing HD image sharing, followed by HD video.
Meta has now confirmed to The Verge that users globally can access both features.
According to a statement by WhatsApp representative Ellie Heatrick to The Verge, this enhancement has been tested by beta users for several months.
Users can spot the “HD” icon on their screen when sharing a photo or video. By clicking on it, they can choose between “Standard Quality” and “HD Quality.”
If the button isn’t visible immediately, users might need to update the app. Before this update, the platform only supported sending images in a compressed format, making it lag behind rivals like iMessage.
This addition is among several other recent updates by WhatsApp aiming to boost its position, especially in the business domain.
For instance, Meta has introduced a dedicated app version for macOS and has expanded its video and audio call capacities.
New features like Screen Sharing and anonymous group chats have also been added to the platform.
WhatsApp also plans to launch a multi-account feature for Android beta users. It will allow them to add an extra account directly through the app’s settings.
The update will also showcase a refreshed settings interface, offering a more contemporary navigation experience.
Additionally, an updated profile tab will be integrated into the chat list, streamlining access to the platform‘s settings.
The feature will enable users to handle conversations from various accounts within a single application, ensuring distinct conversations and notifications.
