A Minnesota woman, Kathleen Wilson, has filed a civil lawsuit against her dentist, Dr. Kevin Molldrem, accusing him of leaving her disfigured and distressed after performing an excessive number of procedures in a single visit in July 2020.
According to the lawsuit filed in Hennepin County District Court, Molldrem allegedly conducted eight dental crowns, four root canals, and 20 fillings within a span of five and a half hours.
As a result of the procedures, Wilson claims she experienced pain, embarrassment, and disfigurement. The lawsuit also alleges that Molldrem overused anesthesia and falsified medical records to evade liability. Wilson had to seek multiple additional appointments with other dentists to address the aftermath of Molldrem’s alleged actions.
The lawsuit seeks damages of at least $50,000. Dr. Avrum Goldstein, an expert Florida dentist, supported Wilson’s case, acknowledging that Molldrem’s diagnosis of extensive decay in Wilson’s teeth was correct. However, Goldstein criticized the treatment, stating that attempting to address all dental issues in a single visit was not only contrary to what was indicated but also not humanely possible to achieve effectively.
The legal action highlights the potential consequences of alleged professional negligence in the field of dentistry and underscores the importance of proper and ethical medical practices.
